BOSTON LARGS WORKS GOES LARGE

The latest model made at Boston Largs Works is this 7mm scale / O14 gauge version of Festiniog Railway Observation Carriage 100.

The era chosen by the client is the original 100 with three windows at the end of the observation end and the guard's compartment.

The model is shown with the construction work complete. It will now be painted in two-tone Maroon/Cream livery and transfers applied before being finished with a coat of varnish.

NEW TRIO

The latest models to be completed are these three 4mm (OO9) carriages which have been scratch built in styrene and hand painted for the client.

They are, from the top down, Festiniog Railway carriage 116, FR 114, and ex-NWNGR / WHR Observation Carriage (aka the 'Gladstone Carriage')

My current commission project is a 7mm scale model of FR Observation Carriage 100. You can read about progress with this model on the Bron Hebog blog

REPEAT BUSINESS

One of the ways any producer or retailer can tell whether they're getting it right is when customers keep coming back, so it's pleasing to announce that no sooner has the Line With No Name taken delivery of our latest pair of carriages than it has placed an order for a further three.

So the next models off the production line will be FR carriages 116 and 114 - the prototype '70's aluminium saloon and a 'Carnforth' buffet respectively - and also the WHHR's 'Gladstone Carriage'.

Not having any pictures of the prototypes myself, and not wishing to disrespect copyright, I haven't got any pictures of them to post, but if you're not immediately familiar with them you can get more information on them here, here and here.

NEW PRODUCTS PRIMED

The latest pair of carriages made at Boston Largs Works are now ready to be painted into FR two tone livery.

They are 4mm (009) models of 'Barn' carriages 107 and 123, which has recently been overhauled and converted from a 1st class observation carriage, running at the downhill end of FR trains, into a 3rd class carriage and turned so it can run as the first vehicle at the uphill end of trains where passengers can still enjoy the views from the windows in the former observation compartment.

BARN FARM

My latest client was so delighted with his pair of FR 'Barns' 102 & 105 that he has immediately placed a follow-up order for two more - new-build composite 107 (completed in 2005) and born again Observation Carr 123 (you can read about me building my own model of this carriage on the Bron Hebog blog).

Here's where I've got to with this latest project with the first stage bodysides of both carriages completed.
